When my friend of 14 years turned to me in the summer of 2021, and said "why don't we start a rehab yard?" Of course I said "why not!" After getting back to some semblance of normality following the pandemic, we set about planning. Amanda's family farm is just that - a working farm, so we have cows, sheep, horses, chickens, cats, dogs, and a rescue Pig named Alfie. Hampston Hill Farm is an accidental sanctuary. It is a sanctuary for many species of animals and it has become one for humans too. It has a wonderful energy and peacefulness about it, and Amanda has helped hundreds of animals and a rather large handful of people to recover over the years. She and I bonded over our shared love of helping animals, and here we are, all these years later! So it makes sense that we combined our passion and skill set, and White Rose Equine was born!
Rehabilitation livery is at the heart of what we do here at Hampston Hill. We can tailor a package to suit you and your horse. Our on-site facilities include our bespoke solarium, hot shower and stocks, all housed within our treatment barn. We have a variety of stables and loose boxes so we can cater for all sizes of horse, and all levels of mobility throughout the stages of rehab. We have an exclusive discount available for horses staying with us for rehab for the water treadmill at Bishop Burton College, which is just down the road.
We are also able to offer starting / backing, schooling, holiday livery, maternity livery, and probably lots of other things we haven't thought of yet! So get in touch if you have a query!
Well I'm Sarah, veterinary physiotherapist and all round animal enthusiast! But horses have always been my passion. I'm glad I ignored my mum when she told me to get a "proper job"! Having the yard as a base is game-changing for me - it allows me to have horses in for intensive treatment, and we are planning lots of clinics including multidisciplinary days where all the professionals will be in once place - physio, saddle fitter, bridle and bit fitter, farrier etc. Keep an eye on our social media!
Amanda is the yard manager and all round wonder woman behind White Rose Equine. She has been around horses her whole life. She is an experienced breeder, pictured here on her Stallion Honest Oliver, who sadly passed away in the summer of 2022. She is a qualified racehorse trainer, and re-trainer. She has run her own successful horse transport business, winning Horse Transporter of the Year at the 2021 Equine Business Awards, and is returning this year (2022) to judge the category. She is retiring from this side of her work to focus more on our rehab patients, but we still have access to transport for when we need it.
I think whoever said this first had never got up at the crack of dawn throughout lambing season, or had to chase escaped cows down a lane, or been kicked / bitten / scratched by the unappreciative animal you are trying to help, or just generally been in a constant state of dampness / dirtiness / smelliness [insert other unpleasant adjective] for most of the year.
Ultimately, we love what we do, and we want to help as many horses as possible. Get in touch if you want to talk to us about how we can help you.
The picture is us both enjoying a well-earned break in London in June 2022.
